A little call for help… we’re looking for people or groups in London, the north and south of the country… interested in plant and food growing…
Can you help us?
Farmer Charlie Ltd aims to make farming and gardening easy for everyone. We have developed remotely connected sensors monitoring soil and air temperature and humidity, displaying the information and advice in a user-friendly app.
We now need to perform some user tests with gardeners and allotment owners as part of a R&D, non-commercial European Space Agency (ESA)-supported project. That’s why I am contacting you: you or your association could play a key role in supporting local innovation and a UK-based business and supporting the grow-your-own community.
We are looking to install Wi-Fi sensors, and plug and play sensors (4G sensors, satellite sensors) in gardens and allotments in London, one location in the north and one in the south of the U.K..
The sensors and app will be available free to use from Farmer Charlie. There is no cost for the users, you and your organisation, and no commitment after the project. Personal data will be limited and will remain anonymous. We just need to receive feedback on the sensors, the app and data collection through regular short online surveys and interviews during the testing period. A helpline will be also available to support the users.
The test cases run from 1 November 2025 to 28 February 2026. We are aware that the winter period is devoted to sowing and leaving the nature run its course. Unfortunately, we cannot choose another time for the test to demonstrate the efficiency of our system, its easiness of use, and gathering potential advice for improvement.
